One Word Inspirations

I've come across several people who've talked about having a "one word focus" for each year.  I think it's brilliant.

I'm a planner, a lister, an organizer, but a "usually don't get much of it done"er.  (Don't be hatin' on my use of the English language, there, OK?) So, naturally, this idea of having a single word to focus on each year sounds so refreshing to me.

I spent some time considering, and the first thing I came up with was "Be Aware".  OK, I know it's two words, but I kind of liked it.  I even made a couple of "signs" to place around the house to help me remember.

I never hung them up.

It just didn't feel right.

So I went back to the drawing board, and tonight, as I was reading some things online, I came across this word:

So simple, and yet something that I know I need to really focus on.  This last year has brought us some challenges.  Saying "this last year" is REALLY putting it nicely.  It's really more like the last THREE years.  Really, really hard for me, and although my basic faith has remained strong, I have struggled sometimes to remember that I'm not really in charge.  That my Heavenly Father is truly the One in charge, and that He is mindful of our needs, our wants, and everything in between.
This year, I will work to remember that.
