Not So Bad

Although Hurricane Ike was pretty ugly everywhere it went, we were lucky enough to be pretty much untouched. We just had a drizzly, breezy day. It rained on and off all day and was fairly windy, but just normal windy, not scary windy. The storm stayed well east of us, so that was good. Now I have lots of water.

Yesterday, after church, we went to Pop and Grama Nettes' house for an "all-September" birthday party. Because we're leaving this weekend, we decided to go ahead and have one party for Carter, Jorden (my brother Billy's youngest), Billy, and Grandmama (my grandmother). So we ate Taco Salad, opened presents, ate Strawberry Pie and Cupcakes, and wailed on a pinata. Fun was had by all.

Today it has been a week since I lost my Dallas. It still seems so bizarre for him to be gone. He was just sort of ever-present, and it all happened so fast. I got a sympathy card from my vet office. That was nice. I've never watched anything or anyone die before. It was a really strange thing because they initially just look the same. I've sort of been haunted this week with thoughts of "What if I left before he was really gone?" Those sorts of things. Mom says that's pretty normal, and assures me that he was truly gone. I'm sure she's right, but your mind messes with you sometimes. We're moving along.
